Hawaii

In 2015, there were 3 unsolicited bids (when a wind energy company submits an unsolicited lease request for a specific area) for possible offshore wind (OSW) development in waters adjacent to Oahu. In 2016, BOEM identified Call Areas, which encompassed the unsolicited bid areas, located north and south of Oahu for possible offshore wind (OSW) development. BOEM has established the BOEM/Hawaii Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force for engagement and coordination. The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council adopted policies guidance for offshore energy development in the region in Sept 2020.
